Love is in the air!
This week we talked all about the fiancé visa, known also as the K1 Visa. This is for a couple that has yet to marry and where one partner is a beneficiary abroad.
The purpose is to get the fiancé of a U.S. citizen to the country faster than the traditional route of pursuing a green card through marriage. Although this helps to decrease the processing time for a loved one to arrive, it’s important to note that there is a specified time period of 90 days after the immigrant’s arrival wherein the couple must get married and apply for the adjustment of status. This period of time can be challenging for many couples as one acclimates to a new country away from friends and family, and not all make it through.
The basic criteria to apply for a K1 visa is as follows: You must have met in person within the last two years. Additionally, you must have plans to marry within 90 days of the immigrant’s arrival in the country.
We successfully help couples from all over the globe with this type of case, and we can discuss any questions or concerns you have during a free and virtual consultation. Call or text us at 737-260-7533 to get started.
With love,
Kate
