Dear Client:

You are receiving this email because at this stage in your case, your Legal Team has submitted the Certification request for your U-Visa case to the appropriate law enforcement agency.

This process can be stressful and time consuming. However, the U-Visa Certification request is a requirement for us to be able to move forward with your U-Visa application.

We need to receive your signed Certification before we are able to move forward with your case. This process can take from as little as three (3) months, and up to a year. Although we don’t expect a response on your Certification to take that long, we have seen some cases that have taken around a year or so, so we want you to be prepared if this is the case.

Unfortunately, we cannot control the time of processing or the decision of the law enforcement agency we send your Certification to.

If for some reason, we don’t receive a response from one agency, we can try to request a Certification from a different agency, if applicable. Please remember that each agency is different, and your Legal Team is doing all that we can in order to communicate effectively with the agencies involved to try and get a positive outcome for your case.

Once your U-Visa Certification has been signed, please note that we have a deadline of six (6) months from the date it was signed to submit the completed U-Visa application to USCIS.

Even after the Certification has been signed, you will need to keep cooperating with law enforcement if they ask you to. This is because law enforcement agencies can always revoke the U-Cert, even after signing it.

While your U-Visa Certification is pending, you can start working on gathering important documents such as: passports, birth certificates, divorce decrees, and marriage licenses. Please let us know if you run into any problems trying to collect these documents.

Please also let us know if you, or any of your derivatives, come into contact with the police or immigration, as this can affect your case.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your Client Care Specialist. Your Legal Team is readily available to address any questions or concerns you may have.

Thank you for your trust and confidence.
