We will send you a copy of your file, along with the tracking information for you to confirm delivery with immigration. Please keep this information in a secure location for your personal records.

After we file your application, you should receive a Receipt Notice from immigration. You will also be scheduled for an appointment at a local immigration office to have your fingerprints and photograph taken.

Please note that the processing times for asylum cases vary widely. We cannot give you a specific timeline of how long your case will take.

Once your asylum application has been pending for 180 days, you will then be eligible for Employment Authorization. We will reach out to you when it is time to start the process to apply, as there are a few steps we will need to take before we can file your work permit application.

Once you have your work permit, it can be renewed until there is a final decision on your Asylum case.

Please let us know if you, or any of your derivatives, move, change phone numbers or email addresses, get married or divorced, have plans to travel, or if you have any contact with the police or immigration. Please keep us updated on any life changes you think we may need to know about.
