Great news! Your interview for your Naturalization case has been scheduled. 🎉 You are now one step closer to the finish line.
Your Legal Team will be scheduling a meeting with you and your attorney to help you prepare for this upcoming interview.
You should have received a letter from immigration that lists the time, date and address for the interview. Please make sure that you have this letter, and that you take it with you to your interview.
You should also make sure to take your Lawful Permanent Resident card, your passport, and any other ID documents that you have, such as your Driver’s License and Social Security card.
During our interview preparation session, your attorney will walk you through any other documents that you should bring that are specific to your case.
The Citizenship interview consists of two (2) parts: 1) the citizenship test, and 2) the interview.
During this interview, the immigration officer will test your ability to read and write in English, and will ask you up to 10 questions from the list of questions that you have been studying. If you have not started studying, please start now. You can reach out to your Legal Team if you need resources to help you prepare for this test.
During the interview, the officer will also ask you questions to confirm your identity and your eligibility for citizenship.
One of our attorneys will attend the interview with you. The attorney will be there to ensure everything goes smoothly, and can intervene if needed. However, the immigration officer will expect you to answer all of the questions.
It is important to arrive on time for your interview. We recommend arriving at least 20 minutes early. While your interview is scheduled for a certain time, they often start late, so be prepared to wait a little bit.
The interview usually lasts about 30-45 minutes. At the end of the interview, you will be told if you passed your test, and you may be told if you’ve been recommended for citizenship.
After the interview, you will wait for a notice to inform you if immigration needs more information from you, OR to tell you that you’ve been scheduled for an Oath Ceremony, where you will take the Oath of Allegiance to the United States and become an US citizen.
